So today I was expecting to get caught up on a lot of stuff, including finishing my syllabus for this next block (which begins Monday) and do a bit of house stuff, maybe some writing, maybe some reading (my copy of Unshapely Things by Mark del Franco arrived in the mail today, for instance and I've got many many other books shouting attention like Horschak to be read).  But.  The plague hath struck my house.

So far I'm still standing.  But my husband has been prone for about two days now, and my daughter . . . well, stuff is coming out of her I just don't want to think about.  Which means, I am caretaking.  Oh, and trying to get a few things done.

One of them, as I mentioned above, is my syllabus.  I hate planning classes.  I mean, everything changes once you introduce people into the mix.  So it hardly seems like a worthwhile thing to do.  But I do it, and I even try to stick to it, for the sake of my students who want a roadmap.  But I hate planning.  And I teach this class often.  You'd think it would get easier.  But no.

So I'm going to plan.  Plot.  Prevaricate.  Procrastinate . . . . uh.  yeah.  Back to work.

I hope everyone feels better soon and you emerge unscathed!

Well, most of the syllabus stuff is done at least. I'm never happy--there's always so much cool stuff to do and so much cool stuff must be left out . . . But what can ya do? Now to get on planning the next class--it begins in four weeks. Urf. But at least the afternoon has been quiet. Much napping on all sides. I wish I was one of them.

I love that butterfly. Pretty.

thank you!
What grade do you teach? (or are you a college professor?)

Professor. University of Montana Western. This course is fiction writing workshop, so will be loads of fun. The second one is the vampire course and the main thing I've yet to do is settle on the videos/movies I want to show. Someone just loaned me a Neil Gaiman's Short Film about John Bolton, so I have to watch that. And I think I have Snow Glass and Apples on DVD . . . But wow. So much to pick from! It's a good problem. Not complaining. Nope.

26th-Aug-2007 06:42 pm (UTC) - See what you've done?
I've got many many other books shouting attention like Horschak to be read

Now my copy of The Cipher is yelling, "Mr. Kott-ah! Mr. Kott-ah!"

LOL!
