cutting off a finger to avoid revising

Pardon the typos. My ring finger on my right hand is bandaged.  So yes, here I am close to deadline and I decide hey!  I could get out of it (not) if I cut my finger off!  So while washing some dishes this am, I sliced my finger.  No, not crosswise.  I decided to filet it. Remove the pad. Okay, it isn't that bad.  I got the bleeding to stop after about 10 minutes of pressure and then bandaged it up. It'll heal and I"m not going to the emergency room for it.  But now I have a club finger. And it's going to make typing a little chancy this week.  My nickname is clodzilla.  Now you know why. One of the major reasons my husband helps me prepare food his he hates my blood and skin in his food.  So he does a lot of the chopping and grating, and rarely lets me even think about touching the cuisine art.  I also like to burn myself. I'm one of those people (I can't be the only one) who will pick up something terribly hot, will hear my skin sizzling, but I won't drop it because dammit, it too awhile to cook that food, so I'll find a place to set it down without making a mess.  Yanno, of anything but my hands, which will be blistering.

So my last post was my slush pile story.  Over at [info]fangs_fur_fey, there are a bunch more. I recommend you go read them if you're interested.

My dad and little brother were very accident prone, so we learned a few good Old World tricks to stop blood flow. Next time, you can use plain white sugar to help stop the bleeding. Or the other trick is to use a cobweb. Personally I'd rather use sugar since it doesn't have dust on it. But they do work.

I have never heard of the sugar thing. But now that you mention it, I do remember the cobweb thing. And I do seem to have plenty of those. And dust dragons. I will seriously have to remember those. Cause I cut myself often and regularly.

I had to look that one up. I'd never heard of it. Sympathies. At least you've got an excuse. I'm must a dork. I have dork's disease. Seriously though, I get it. Since I exploded my back a couple of years ago, I can't feel part of my foot and calf. It's really weird. Like I'm not quite all there. Which of course is quite accurate.
