better today

There was an article in the paper yesterday about the Novovirus, which apparently is what I had.  Convenient that they told me what it was.  I already knew what it did, mind you, and the prevention advice was a day late, dollar short, as it were.  But much better today.  Could have been worse.  Could have been hospitalized.  Apparently a lot of folks around here have been.

So here's a question.  I'm thinking about Myspace.  My publicist (mine, right, and a whole bunch of others' really) suggested it strongly.  I've never had the time, but maybe at the moment I could.  Does anybody hang out there?  What's it do?  What's it like?  I know I had several students this block who at the beginning of the three weeks swore they never would get involved, and then the next thing I know they are addicts.  So what's the draw?

I have a MySpace profile, but I don't do much with it. (www.myspace.com/dsnight). I'm on dial-up at home, and MySpace servers are pretty darn slow, especially when people spice up their pages with YouTube videos and fancy graphics and CSS and such.

Still, it's another online presence, and I've posted a few announcements and links to my website and LJ. I've connected with at least a few people I wouldn't have found otherwise. All in all, it couldn't hurt.

Hi Di -

My friend Kristin discovered myspace and has been using it like a fiend. Http://www.myspace.com/kryslavalle

via myspace she discovered her agent, and got into contact with one of the editors at Little, Brown (who is likely picking up her novel at the beginning of the year) also ran into someone at Warner Brothers who's interested in the possibility turning said novel into a movie.

It's a fairly user friendly system, gives information (for fans) about authors, and is sort of the new big-deal. If people are proactive about finding friends (as Kristin is, i think she's broken the 1000 mark with friends) it also helps centralize a fan base where fans can see other fans etc.

Just some thoughts.
You can set it up a number of different ways. one would be like kristin's another would be mine http://www.myspace.com/booleansunrise but mine is more of a version of a personal (vs professional) myspace.

Hope that helps.

I've got one as does Draconis (the chocolate druid who needs to be beaten back into the ng's) and we've found his daughter and step-daughter through them. They are now talking on a fairly regular basis.

And I've found other wonderful friends that I miss too.

That's amazing. I've tried looking for some friends, but so far, haven't found any. Not sure I'm looking well, though. Hoping they find me too.
